Getting Started: Your Workspace

PDF Mail Engine organizes all your projects, templates, and data into "Workspaces". This design gives you absolute control over where your sensitive data physically resides.

The "Storage Agnostic" Philosophy

Unlike SaaS tools that force you to upload data to their servers, PDF Mail Engine is a local application. It reads and writes to a specific folder on your computer that you designate as your Workspace. This means the software has no opinion on how that folder is stored.

Maximum Security

For highly sensitive data (HR, Medical, Legal), set your Workspace on a local encrypted hard drive or a USB key. If the drive is unplugged, the data verified does not exist on the machine. No cloud uploads, zero leaks.

High Availability

Need to switch computers? Set your Workspace inside a Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive folder. PDF Mail Engine works seamlessly with synced folders, allowing you to access your templates and logs from any device with the software installed.

Setting up your first Workspace

  1. Launch PDF Mail Engine.
  2. Detailed Setup Wizard will appear on first run.
  3. Select Location: Choose an empty folder where you want your projects to live.
  4. Initialization: The engine will create necessary subfolders (/templates, /data, /output).

Note: We recommend backing up your Workspace folder regularly, or using a RAID-configured NAS if data integrity is critical.
